Strawberries brighten up any meal, particularly granola! They are one of the most popular berries in the world and the good news is that they are packed full of vitamins. They are a summer fruit and tastiest eaten in this season.
There are over 600 varieties of strawberries, which differ in size, flavour and texture. They are usually recognized by their vibrant red flesh and yellow seeds that pierce their surface. They are both cultivated and grow naturally in the wild.
In ancient times strawberries were used for both food and medicinal purposes. It was believed that they increased powers of perception, helped cure nerve disorders and helped control heart palpitations.
Today strawberries are commonly liked with champagne for special (romantic!) occasions. We say roll on romantic breakfasts – strawberries and flowers in granola – you can't get much more food for love!
